There is no way you can block IP addresses in SQL Server, for that you will have to rely on your host OS, i.e. using a firewall as mentioned above

i don't think its possible. that is probably due to the different architecture for 6.5 and 2005
i once worked with a 6.5 database and I never bothered to use sql 2005 tools
