Ok.....but when i try to create a new publication on a named instance it says could not connect to the instance Server1\Instance1. Is there any setting that iam missing...???

Did You check if the rows that are getting updated are satisfying the Filter conditions?.

Is the Distribution job running?

This means that ur subscription has got completly expired and u need to re-start/re-initialize that subscription. The better option is to delete the expired subscription alone and re-create the subscription....
