I resolved my Issue

Add the  login account , and password - Click on...

From EventVWR system Logs

The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not start due to a logon failure.

Checked under alias (more than 1 of these) in config manager

They all had...

The instructions have the following line at end

Note: Don’t forget to alter you <ServerName>.\SQL2008</ServerName> property in the MsDtsSrvr.xml file to correctly point to your SQL virtual server name...

A second SQL restart stopped the trace file - not sure why it didnt stop the first time.

running the script below shows that C2 auditing is turned off - but it is still creating trace files??
