Good Evening JL;
Small in this instance is 7GB.
Downtime wise, as long as I want really as it is to be (eventually) merged into our existing data. But wanted to get...

Thanks Jeff..
That certainly clarifies the Automatic Failover options now. I clearly had it wrong!

And then if I brought back R1, waited for them to Synch and powered off R3 it would go straight to R1?

I am still not following that counting.
If the R1 is the primary replica, and fails, R2 picks it up. That's 1 Move, right?
Now R2 is the primary; and fails; why...

The error message says '2 Automatic failovers only'
And thus the confusion. It must be semantics but 2 auto failovers to me is R1->R2 and R2->R3 is only 2.

When I look at the properties on the AG, both are Synchronous and both set to Auto.
But that isn't happening in the last worst-case scenario.
Is there anything else I...

Hiya,
I think I have had this problem - I solved it initially by increasing the timeout to about 5 minutes - which was a work around, and then later discovered...

Hi All,
I also read that JTDS doesnt support the automatic failover, but, I was hoping that, at best, the listener would always point to the primary replica and that simply...

Cheers! But that requires havng some Java skills in house, which we do not.
This is a third party application.
I don't even know if we have a Java compiler (and subsequently...
