You can backup the log to a file while a full backup is running but you cant run a truncate or shrink.

Half resolved
This works except that I cant get it to work using extended stored procedure of sqlbackup.

Yea Ive got it working this morning and couldnt replicate what was going wrong last night
A nights sleep seemed to helped as its all working fine now
