This was useful information.  And given the percentages, not widely known.  Last couple of questions have been interesting.

It seems that this question makes some assumptions:

1) I am using RAID 5 to begin with

Enough of the "What does this acronym mean?" questions. 

If all else fails, ask an acronym question.  Knowing what an acroynm stands for is not very useful (knowing what SMO is used for is).
