Have you tired the -v parameter in sqlcmd in combination with using another environment (like Powershell) to do the date calculation and set it to a variable to then pass...

You are correct in that on an x64 instance the stacksize for each thread stack is 2MB. On startup, sql server will allocate a set, small amount of worker threads...

DVA, I assume you're not reading dirty data as you stated changes are infrequent but check your isolation level.
