The node operating as the (AG),PRIMARY will be the node that the LISTENER will connect to.

Just to be clear NODE A and Node B are set up as an FCI with Node B being Passive.
Node C is the secondary replica of the Instance running...

Best practise indicates that the port for the LISTENERS on the non default instances should not be set to 1433.

I suspect bad code or missing indexes or possibly a report pointing to this server\db.
Again you need to find out what was\is running profiler or WHOISACTIVE is the best...
