Can database certificates only be created after you create the master key?

Could you explain the difference between making the master key and the certificate. Also, I noticed that the master key password was set to an empty string. Why?

In actually I didn't. What I did was I ran the create table and insert statement scripts on the database engine side and ran the cube create (xmla file)...

Unfortunately that didn't work. I now get an error:

The ddl2:MemberKeyUniqueElement at line 97, column 10600 (namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2) cannot appear under Load/ObjectDefinition/Dimension/Hierarchies/Hierarchy.

That got me further ... I now get the following error:

The following system error occurred: Access Denied. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices)

Is there a password or other security option I need to...
