Is the error from your own custom error reporting or Built-In SQL?
Have you tried using dbo.sp_send_dbmail ?

Depends on a couple of factors:
- Are your disks on a SAN?
- How big are your DB's likely to be?
- How active are your DB's ?
- Whay type of data...

I would also suggest putting in a DNS Alias for your SQL Connection String; i.e. SQLReporting > 10.0.0.1; that way if you ever need to migrate your database out to...

Another option is SQLH2 which comes with a reporting pack and a comprehensive stack of supporting tables.
