To move .mdf data to ndf, you must have atleast 120% (for safer side) of .mdf 's size on .ndf

I have the same issue. Trying to replicate from SQL 2005 to 2 subscribers on 2008. one server is succeeded and another one is failing. Getting error "Agent message code...

Created .ndf, empty'd .mdf [dbcc shrinkfile (1, emptyfile)], shrunk .mdf, empty'd .ndf so it moved back data to .mdf, then remove .ndf.

After you move data [empty] from .mdf file to .ndf file, could you reset the .mdf to lower size?
