Hi, yes they are all individual accounts ie not NT groups are used.

backup,detach,de-install,install 2005 Std, install sp2, attach db's

I've used the link David refers to in the past...it works well. However be careful when using it for Win2003 R2 environments as the account you use needs higher privs...

Not sure if it helps but in 2000 you cant easily trigger a job from a file just turning up on your server. However you can set up a job...

Has it started in the past?
Is it started with an account that has appropriate authority, or has its password changed ??

In your SQL job, youve not coded 'use dbname' where the dbname is the one your trying to restore have you?

NETSVC "SQLServerAgent" \\servername /QUERY
Can also use /STOP & /START with NETSVC
(The service name in this query obviously relates to a SQL2000 service, just change the name appropriately)

Just thought I'd add that rather than re-install SQL if youve no other options, you can just use the rebuildm.exe. See BOL
