You can use handle.exe http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896655 or Process explorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 and find out the handle taken by process on the physical mdf & ldf files.

The problem seems to be with sql 2008 setup support files. Just un-install setup support file and run the setup again.

It depends as i was using MacAfee antivirus and had some trouble sending e-mail out using database mail from SQL machine. I have added exception for databasemail90.exe and sqlservr.exe.
