Doesn't stopping SQL Agent service stop all the log reader agents as well as distribution...

... is there anything that needs to be done before I restart the distributor / publisher or a machine that runs SQL server?

I have new hardware for the cluster, so I do not need to install several instances on the same server.  The hardware has shared storage.  All the hardware questions like...

They did...  They even reopened EM, besides, there is no that column for the table in syscolumns table. 

It is MS SQL2000 sp3.  I was using only EM.  So it is probably ODBC.
