Did you ever find a reason for this?
I'm seeing it on my 2008 server, 2008 R2 SQL.
That server has frequent mysterious failovers - I'm wondering if this is a symptom...

What are your wait stats? Are users complaining?
Really, those are the big "it depends" questions.
Are you trying to tune something, or just curious?

i'm seeing this, too - the problem is, we are having i/o issues and this is one of the highest i/o operations going.
