Thanks everybody so far... here is what I have that is generating a syntax error.

What I am trying to accomplish... dynamically create the table name with today's date... so today's...

I tried using a variable to create the table but that didn't seem to work:

create table @variable (fields...)

Turns out someone else working on this new server had disabled the SQL Server Browser service. I changed it to start Automatically, started it, and the issue was resolved.
