It could be doing alot of reindexing! That could be the source of your problem?

This is nothing new as far as technology goes even Windows Server has something similiar to replicate volumes to new volumes! I can't think of what it is called...

I used exclusively RAID 1 for all my TempDB's, which I think is the best for performance without the single point of failure factor!

We don't use sa account at all and have deleted that account! We do have a Windows Group that has sa priviledges. So the few members of that group...

That is why I love SQL Server, you have so many options to do the same thing and it just comes down to your personal preference in handling the task.

We use just what is built into SQL Server Alerts. I have about 25 alerts that is scripted and whenever we have a new server built we apply the scripts....

Yes, they are single mdf and ldf databases! Also split up on seperate volumes as well, my log files are all together while my mdf's are on multiple volumes.
