You'll need to attack this from the Windows security side of things. Make sure you're an administrator on the computer itself, then try it again.

Is it feasible from a performance standpoint to build a view that concatenates the columns together, then join the Fact table to the view? I can't think of a way...

Can you create a new DB by right-clicking on the Databases heading in SSMS and choosing New Database...?

It looks like something is weird with the tabbing. When I removed the indentation from the offending line (in the SQL 2005 script) it worked fine.

Yes, it's serial because this section of our ETL can only be run serially. So I'd like it to take up more processors, if possible.
