Frank, That's exactly what I thought. I think I should delete the log backup job immediately after the full backup is done. Anyone disagree (he! he!)

Tried using QA but still failed (in a sense) with this message

Try typing in the full UNC name anyway eg \\server\share_folder$ and make sure the SQL server service is not running in local system account.

Thanks all for helping to resolve my problem. It worked by stopping the service and then I was able to make master in single user allowing restore.

Thanks Andrew, I've tried sqlservr.exe -c -m and that failed with the message cannot find errorlog file although it is there in the right folder and with correct permission etc.
