Its a bug in the SQL 2008 RTM installer.
You can work around this by installing from the commandline.
Be aware there's another bug with this installer. /AGTSVCPASSWORD switch does not...

You're key issues are these three requirements.
-350 duplicated databases
-Near Real Time
-R/W mode
In my experience, its going to be very difficult to provide all of these from a single source instance.
