thanks for all the tips so far...i indeed had a look at the permissions for the account that sql server uses and that part is ok. what seems to happen...

I can't pinpoint any changes on the server. At least, no one is owning up to anything. I've placed a support call with Litespeed as well.

Great thanks....can i get one more opinion?
the database is quite small so i'm thinking that the disk size really is overkill....if i used 4x36Gb RAID 10 would that be pointless?

well i tried refreshing within EM and that didn't seem to make the role go away (when it didn't exist).
so i ran the add role in QA and then went...

OK, I figured it out in the end.....I couldn't re-add it in Enterprise Manager, because I could see it there...I ended up re-adding the role through Query Anlayzer successfully and...

It's an application role but when i try to either delete it from enterprise manager or run 'sp_dropapprole' from query analyzer, i get the following error:

no, it is not in sysusers...
i can only see it under 'roles' under the database....
when i try to delete it, it gives me the error that it doesn't exist...

Actually, one last question...I believe that only the "output" of an sql file will be put in to the output file...How would I capture the error if one is returned?
