  • RE: SQL Server 2005 NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account

Thanks Steve...I'll let you know how it goes after removing that account from the Sysadmin role.

  • RE: Rethinking Analysis Services

I'm going to play devil's advocate....

How much total development man-hours was spent creating this infrastructure, the web interface and all of the reporting?

For $2000-$3000 this can be outsourced to one...

  • RE: Cleaning Address Data with SSIS Using a Web Service

This looks like a viable way to clean up international addresses.

For those looking to clean up US addresses, I would proceed with a high degree of caution.

    1. Is the...

  • RE: Tracking users to SPIDS in logs

    Perfect.

    Thank you.

  • RE: Blogging in your career

I wouldn't keep anything of a personal nature in a blog on the internet...HR departments use this stuff to weed out candidates/target employees for dismissal.

Keep your personal life personal...and private.

  • RE: Cannot create a connection to data source

    God I love this website!!!!

  • RE: 2000 to 2005: Upgrade or Migrate ?

Migrate...There are too many gotchas to risk an in-place upgrade on a production system.

We just ran into another one this AM...bcp in SQL Server 2005 vomits on mainframe formatted dates...CCYYMMDD. ...

  • RE: SQL Server Security: Pros and Cons of Application Roles

    Tim,

Your solution worked perfectly in development and I've published it to the production server.

  • RE: SSIS drops passwords from tasks

This looks like a very good solution.  I was looking for an expression that could take the password from a variable but there is none for the FTP Connection.

    A file-based...

  • RE: A Cool Perk

A company concierage service for running errands...

Dry cleaning, oil changes, trips to DMV for stickers, loaf of bread/bottle of milk...

...somebody to handle non-family stuff that interrupts the normal workday....stuff you...

  • RE: Don''t Upgrade to SQL Server 2005

    Steve,

Your comments are, unfortunately, a year late for me to use.  I'm already months into migration.

The learning curve is REALLY steep going from 2000 to 2005.

    Some things for the community...

  • RE: Logging in SSIS

    Thanks Crispin,

I dumped a copy of the link you provided.  I'll need to figure out how to make it re-usable for multiple SSIS projects.

So much to learn before I can...

  • RE: Logging in SSIS

Ah...I got this working.  Very slick.

    Oooops, Gotcha!!!!

It does not log any of the following from Execute SQL Task...

    1.  output from PRINT commands

    2.  counts from select/insert/update/delete commands

    3.  result sets

    ...the stuff used...

  • RE: SQL Server Management Studio Pakage failed to load

I reinstalled .NET 2.0 last night.  Did not fix the problem.

Moving to SQL Client Tools...By "clean install" you mean both uninstall and reinstall client tools, correct?

    If so, does it matter...
