This is a clear example of Kerberos authentication being failed. Check for configuring kerberos on your domain.

What i can think of is Replication. you can setup replication and once everything is in sync you can disable replication.

When you have partitions it would generate snapshot seperately for every client.
Because the snapshot is different for each and every client so it tries to generate .sch and.bcp files...

How many files do you have associated with the database

Yes by changing the DB Compatibility level from 90 to 80 should work. It did work for me long back.
Provided you have not used any features specific to SQL 2005...

The logins are always stored in the Master database irrespective of the database and the SID of the Reportuser should be different. That should have caused the issue.

Yes kerberos patch should have caused the problem as this is a pure double hop issue. We might have to check for the required SPN's available.
