Yep.  I did copied the X86\Data folder off the CD onto disk and removed the read-only attribute before running REBUILDM.EXE as described in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;273572

Ran the REBUILDM.EXE, selected that X86\data...
