how often you backup the databases?...if it is everyday at particular time (say 2 AM everyday), then did you get the error when you backed up databases at last time.

i dont know T-SQL command for that.... in SSMS
1) right click on database you want to look on
2) select options and look for trustworthy in the list of DB...

are you sure you uninstalled common componenets also of sql server 2005 instances.
can you check log files to see any unusual error under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files
