Yuk. Hope they change the name of data type DATETIME2. I just hate that.

To extend your example then I'm assuming it would have to go the the table for
select Col b, Col c from T where a=@var
where Col c wasn't included but...

What does the date represent in the string? I have two instances on my machine Standard and SQLExpress with 2 different dates.

You need to have the Database template which comes with VS 2005 Professional.

Rob Viera's SQL Server 2000 Programming book was excellent so his 2005 book is probably worth a look.

Just to amplify I used Transcenders and was impressed. Although they should not be relied on as your total study program.
