I've got the same problem here.

I dropped the linked server

Unchecked the Allow inprocess option.

Recreated the linked server by using query

Checked the Allow Inprocess option

Tested the query that failed...

If you use the Maintenance Cleanup Task inside the subplan it wil work all fine.

NOTE you must use the workflow inside the step (on completion/success/failure arrows) other wise the next...
