in EM, did you tick the articles? it will actually reinitialize but only those that needs to be, if you haven't modified anything in the other articles only a snapshot...

not sure where you are now but here are the steps i usually perform:
1. rename the server box name
2. reboot
3. sp_dropserver
4. restart the services
5. sp_addlinkedserver
6. restart the services
7. issue select...

do you have the latest sp installed?
did you try to do a subscription and publisher clean up?

actually, just add the articles, reintialize the subscriptions, then only those articles modified/added will be included in the snapshot to be generated
pretty straightforward, either use QA or EM, same result...

yep coz you raised an error...
use xp_sendmail or some sendmail application that you can call whenever an insert is done
a trigger will do nicely i think... or you can do...
