  • RE: Migrate Oracle to SQL

As is, sort of. The 2.0 version should if I'm not mistaken. Best to go to http://www.microsoft.com/sql under the migration section for the latest info.

  • RE: Migrate Oracle to SQL

I actually teach a lot of SQL to Oracle courses, including the SQL Server Migration assistant. The tool from Microsoft is great for eliminating a lot of the tedious, manual...

  • RE: Snapshot File Size

Are replicating every table in the database? The snapshot agent should only be working with "articles" (tables) within the publication itself. Merge replication should only use the snapshot taken on...

  • RE: Snapshot File Size

Sounds like this is Snapshot replication? If the bulk of that data isn't being updated, perhaps you might consider moving to Merge replication with only a daily merge task. You'll...

  • RE: Exam Thoughts 70-441

FYI I'm checking with my contacts at MS on how one might submit additional feedback...

  • RE: Database shows (Suspect\offline) in EM

Trying just giving the database a restore with recovery command -- it might just be stuck in a non-recovery state.  If it still doesn't come online, check the SQL Server...

  • RE: Exam Thoughts 70-441

FYI to all, I'm doing a non-live webcast next week on http://www.sqlpass.org regarding the new certification lines. I agree with Adam totally on the minimum requirements thing, but it is...

  • RE: Calling COM From T-SQL

Actually I like the article just as is.  It's a great reference for someone in that "trump" situation.  I didn't get the impression you advocating it's usage rather than exploring...

  • RE: Calling COM From T-SQL

First off -- very well written article!  While as a practice I agree with the above post that this generally isn't a good idea, there are instances where I've seen...

  • RE: Reporting Services Part I: Overview, Architecture and Installation

All email communication from RS is done via SMTP. For email systems that are MAPI-based, they should have some SMTP gateway to send to directly (I'm fairly sure Notes has...

  • RE: Users From Hell

    Absolutely great!

I particularly like "the consultant".  Now I am one of those, though I'm not very good looking, own a BMW or have better luck with the opposite sex

  • RE: Reporting Services Part I: Overview, Architecture and Installation

Grrr!  Don't you just hate that error?  And then you have to wait for EVERYTHING (almost) to roll back.

The service (on my test box at least) is referenced at "C:\Program...

  • RE: SQL RS Report Runtime Permission Problem

Check the security for the Reporting Services website (where the report manager sits).  It sounds like it's set for anonymous logon.  Try changing that to Integrate Windows Authentication only.

  • RE: Dump SQL Permissions

    Very, very nice utility. Kudos!
