I did register the off-site server in both EM using the same authentication mode.

Thanks allen, but the directory is a share that I created.
The directory on the server is e:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL
I shared it as MSSQL so it is now \\machinename\mssql ...

The answer was, after you edit the names in disconnected edit, you have to open each connection object and click ok..this will update the name underneath the connection object.
