One advantage of the Sonasoft product is that it supports a mixed environment of SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. But the Sonasoft is a bit expensive.

I've seen this happen because a programmer had one "Begin Tran" too many.
When the user exited the program, all her changes were rolled back instead of commited.

I've had the same error message (guid should contain 32 digits). But not when moving packages, just trying to create a very simple Maintenance job.
It turned out to be cause...

I just had the same problem.
I had to enable DatabaseMail on the SQL Server Agent -> properties -> Alert System (check the checkbox), and then restart SQL Server Agent.
It works now,...

Great article, but I think you forget one thing:
What about xact_state() ?
I've seen somewhere (might have been BOL) that this code should work:
if (XAXT_State()) = -1 RollBack Transaction
But I'm uncertain...
