    Anytime we install a new instance, we generate a long random 'sa' password and lock it in a secure file/location.

    You mean 'sa' should have a password.....?

    'edition' only seems to return eg "Enterprise Edition", nothing about processor. Though I don't have 64-bit to see if that's any different.
