Yeah, I noticed this "improvement" in 2005, but I couldn't find any documentation as to why this suddenly "works". I haven't taken the time to test other such functions...

Yeah, you're right about security. The reason I brought it up was that I vaguely remember doing something like this in SQL 2000, but I couldn't find it in 2008....

No errors...I did a dbcc indexdefrag and got
pages scanned 7
pages moved 0
pages removed 0
the index is showing frag % = 85,7142857142857
I even dropped and recreated the index and the frag...
