I think the problem is because the distribution_admin user (default user for replication), doesn't have privilage to the replication

Is the transaction log backup failing because the recovery model is simple? Does this mean that you don't need to back up the transaction log with a simple recovery model?...

1. detach database
2. attach database without log file
3. change database recovery option to simple

Full Backup your database and restore with the different name and move the file location to the new location.
