You are right, update stats is a left over from old shotgun solutions which in this case is redundant.
Shrink file has the advantage of reducing the size...

From a maintenance standpoint please add a column (auto increment) and clustered index. Even if you never use the column in queries it will give you maintenance and optimization options...

Yes I loved CTRL+B as much as Win+E for explorer
Sql2005 had provided Ctrl+R to raise and lower the result pane.

I concur with RGR,us. That is what they are and they are handy for hints on where to add indexes.

Reduced 60+ pages to 1. Yes log shipping at a 1 minute interval is tight and may not be practicle.
