Is the SQL Instance login the same as the MAPI profile? these must match.

did you run sp_srvrolepermission 'processadmin' and make sure processadmin has 'kill' rights? I do not think you can take away rights from fixed server roles.

Well, if it was restored to normal, how come no logins etc were carried over? And your error message was different than mine.
