That formula appears to be incorrect. Here's Microsoft's:

SELECT NPER = LOG10((@PMT*(1+@rate*@type)-@FV*@rate)/(@PMT*(1+@rate*@type)+@PV*@rate))/ LOG10(1+@rate)
