Yes you are 100% correct.

SQL authentication works as it is encapsulated within SQL (username + password = bingo).

But the windows accounts cannot authenticate due to nothing being able...

I'd say you 100% correct on:

A - standard edition x64 2008 SP1 and 2005 SP3 will not utilise this setting unless you apply the CU's
