So I didn't see if someone already corrected you, but DISTMDL databae IS NOT the Resource database and the article you mention has no mention of the distmdl database. ...

Did you ever find a fix for this? I've experienced the same thing, I can run the whole package which also cleans up old .bak & .trn files fine....

Cycling the SQL Agent service fixed this issue for me. Nothing about the account had changed since the jobs that this accunt owned had changed. Other jobs owned...

anything in the error log? Perhaps run a trace overnight to look for things?
Logs only show the backup failure error. Trace is my next step...

I did check that...not a stupid question actually as I'm still a bit new to SQL. We had an Index Maint. job that ran at 1:00 a.m. Backup...

I have a similiar issue on one of my databases, but here is the hitch. We run 2 full backups on this one database. One at 12:00 p.m....
