Where is the express instance installed, on you local machine or on a server somewhere? is it a named instance or default? what are you using to connect to it?

Take a copy of the package from your source control system (which everyone always does :-D) and use BIDS (business intelligence development studio, part of the SQL Server client tools)....

One problem with using Information_Schema and catalog views is that the user executing the query must have access to the object(s) being referenced.
