John, I was talking about connecting to sql 2000, in which case sys tables are still there. U r right, in 2005 you'd want to use DMVs.

Guys, one more thing:
How important is it to format the drives that house system databases (tempdb, master, msdb). Should that matter?

2 different periods, millisec used by cpu and duration of the event. It's not the network nessesarily, could be parallelism and bunch of other variables.

not that I know of, you need repoint the apps to the subscriber, then rebuild the repl and repoint back to the publisher
