Ours was Windows 2000 .... I dont know if it applies to win 2003.

Its on a windows 2000 Server with SP4. Yes I am able to connect to both the instances from other machines thru TCP/IP as they are running on different ports.

Yes, I am a sysadm on all the instances on that box. It works on instance1 , instance2 and instance4.
