alter the table that was created for the import by changing the smalldatetime field to datetime. Then import your data again but make sure you do not drop the table...

Blame mdac, it has a lot to answer for. I'm sure some of the jet stuff was removed from mdac 2.7 and >. Try installing mdac 2.6 on his pc...
