I'm sure there are plenty of things I haven't considered but this seems to tick the box I need ticking at the moment.
It picks up any databases which are online...

I've understood that but that failure will give me a lot of information in itself.

Thanks - have had a quick look and that sounds perfect and simple in that I can just look for any database without a backup in the last 24 hours....

I'm comfortable with assuming that people (me I guess) remember to set up appropriate backups for each database so it is just making sure that the backup schedule does trigger...

Ah broken chain might be my problem there - silly me.

Thanks - I've just downloaded a new version but no luck, it thinks client tools have been updated later so won't allow any changes - so I have to suspect...

That's the problem - it's on SP2 and re-running says the client has higher patches in place so a patch for another product on the machine has probably caused the...

Interesting, I had thought they were the same but it seems the database is 9.00.3068
Problem is as far as I can tell the system thinks it is fully patched up...

I've checked and I have the same problem creating maintenance plans on remote servers whilst plans being created by others on my instance don't appear to suffer the same problem...
