i agree. i would just have a sql task in ssis that does the yearly date check.

if you mean from another server i would just backup and restore to your newly installed sql server.

i'd ask for an install document. no doubt you will need to setup logins, agent jobs, deploy scripts etc...... ?

just to clarify, you checked conf. manager > sql server services and there are no service types there?!
