right click on maintanence plan, select modify option & right click on the maintanance plan task that opens on Visual Studio & select the disable option. Hope this helps

check the size of ur transaction log. also check the size of the logical drive. If it is almost full, then it may take time.

it looks like he is talking about the growth of the log files (ldf). specifically it needs to be analysed why the log file growth? r u performing any transaformation...

backup & restore is the best way to move databases from one box to another. Copying mdf & ldf is a bad practice.
