you can use oracle migration workbech for converting sql server 2005 databases to oracle. the tool is very good and will change appx 60-70 % of database schema into oracle....

install oracle 11i 32 bit cleint components on sql server 2005/8 64 bit machine. this will work without any issues.

simple recovery mode will still write to log file. but in bulklogged recovery model, these type of operations are not logged at all. so saveing time on IO, CPU etc....
