You must run Upgrade Advisor locally on the computer that has Reporting Services installed

  • Hi,

I'm trying to perform in-place upgrade from sql server 2005 to sql server 2008.

I have installed Upgrade adviser on Server A and I need to analyze the databases which are on Server B (Production)

When run the upgrade adviser, it's giving the message as below.

You must run Upgrade Advisor locally on the computer that has Reporting Services installed.

Do I need to install the Reporting services on Server A and then run the Upgrade adviser?

If yes, Do I need to install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services OR SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services on Server A?

    Please advice

    thanks

Just uncheck the Reporting Services check box on the Upgrade Advisor wizard.

If you need to analyze Reporting Services you must install Upgrade Advisor on the machine which has Reporting Services installed.
