  Hi,

  SQL Mail just stopped working all of a sudden on our server(SQL 7.0)...whenever I use xp_sendmail it gives the following error message :

  Server: Msg 17902, Level 18, State 1, Line 0

  General MAPI failure.

  I checked the SQL Mail icon in the Support Services link in Enterprise Manager and it was fine and the Test option also worked fine.

  I also used xp_stopmail and xp_startmail and the mail session was started and stopped without any errors.

  I also started and stopped SQL Server agent....and yet the error occurs...

  Could anyone help me out on this...

  problem solved... 🙂

  the Exchange mail account that is configured on the server had reached its limit...we just increased this limit and its working fine now...
