Can anyone give any pointers as to why xp_sendmail can return errors like:
"unable to resolve email address" and "Parameter @recipients is missing" even though it has valid contents?

Some more on this, having this time expected my overnight proc to fail...
I get error 18031, which according to the KB means that xp_sendmail cannot send mail to a "personal distribution list". As far as I'm concerned, none of my client's customers are set-up like this.
So, does xp_sendmail do a validation on an email address before the email is sent?
TIA, Simon

Hi,
We use SQL Mail along with our exchange server and we get errors like "Unable to resolve email address" etc if there are two similar email addresses on the exchange server or if the email address provided does not exist on the exchange server...
However we never faced such a problem when sending mails to email addresses in hotmail or yahoo etc...
If the mail address is wrong in this case then a "message undeliverable" notification is sent back to the mailbox of Mail Id that SQL mail is configured to use...but there is no error in query analyser when xp_sendmail is used in these cases...
Could you provide some more info on how SQL Mail is configured in your system.
